Wire tying the CV boot between the transmission and the transfer case.

An option, if your factory "otiker clamp band", fails to hold CV grease, like mine!

RE: Wire tying the CV boot between the transmission and the transfer case.

Great minds think alike!  This was my plan for reinstalling the boot after inspection in 70K miles.

I got the band to seal, but it took three hands on the crimper to squeeze it hard enough.  When properly crimped, the calipers read ~3.5mm across the pinch.

If the crimper takes that much pressure, how can you be sure that you're wrapping the wire tightly enough?

The wire is not tensioned by hand. There are a bunch of different wire hose clamp tools out there. Heres one example: http://www.clamptitetools.net/image/cache/data/Tools/CLT01-300w-700...

To answer the question "how much pressure needed, on the Oetiker band crimper!".. I posted this image at the time I replaced my CV joints and boots.
